NJSC “Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov” from 05.02.2024 to 16.02.2024 had the honor of hosting the head of the Department of Pharmacognosy with a Garden of Medicinal Plants and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Lublin (Poland, Lublin), Dr.hab., Associate Professor Agnieszka Ludwiczuk as a visiting professor.
Professor Ludwiczuk has made significant contributions to the academic realm, boasting an impressive portfolio of more than 90 scientific publications. Professor Ludwiczuk’s scholarly endeavors extend beyond articles, as she is also the author of several notable books in the fields of phytochemistry and pharmacognosy. Noteworthy among them is the book titled «Chemical Constituents of Bryophytes: Bio- and Chemical Diversity, Biological Activity, and Chemosystematics» (2012), a seminal work that has left a lasting impact on the understanding of bryophytes. Additionally, she authored the chapter «Terpenoids» in the book «Pharmacognosy» (2017), further solidifying her reputation as an authority in the field.
Her expertise lies in phytochemical analysis, where she employs chromatographic methods such as TLC, HPLC, GC-MS, and others. Additionally, Professor Ludwiczuk excels in spectroscopic analysis, utilizing techniques such as FTIR and CD to delve into the intricacies of natural products, contaminants, and chemosystematic studies. Her comprehensive approach to the study of volatile compounds further showcases the breadth and depth of her expertise.
