Medical Traditions: A Mission to the Heart of the Steppe
For the fourth time since 2024, specialists from the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov embarked on a medical mission to remote regions of Kazakhstan. In Uygur district of Almaty region, medical professionals of various specializations provided medical assistance to over 150 residents. Over four days, consultations, diagnostics, and necessary treatments were conducted. Additionally, university researchers conducted a study on the health condition of the local population, the results of which will be used to develop more effective healthcare programs for rural areas.
The medical team, led by Professor Zhantuganov Ablayuly, provided qualified assistance to the population with the help of doctors from clinical departments: Bagiarova F.A., a psychotherapist, Professor of the Department of Communicative Skills, Izbasarova A.Sh., a neurologist, assistant professor of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, Karimkhanova A.T., a pediatrician, assistant professor of the Department of Children’s Diseases named after Professor N.A. Barlybaeva, Shamshidinova M.A., a gastroenterologist, master, assistant of the Department of gastroenterology, general practitioner, doctoral student of the 3rd year Indirshiev V.A., a psychiatrist, therapist, doctoral student of the 3rd year Zhunusova A.U., a pediatrician, resident of the 2nd year Anarbaeva N.B. provided assistance to more than 150 patients. The team of doctors provided medical assistance to patients with endocrine, neurological, cardiological, gastroenterological, and psychiatric diseases.
Along with practical work, a scientific study was conducted on the mental state of relatives of people suffering from schizophrenia. Recommendations were given to equip rural medical clinics with the necessary equipment, to introduce a universal progressive model of patronage for pregnant women and young children, a child development office, and IVBDV schemes, in order to improve the quality of medical services in the region.
Residents of the village of Kolzhat and the chief physician of the Central District Hospital of Uygur district expressed deep gratitude to the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov and its rector Shoranov Marat Edygeevich for the provided consultative, medical, and psychological assistance. This mission has become a vivid example of how professionalism and humanity can change the lives of people in remote regions.
