ACADEMIC MOBILITY OF STUDENTS AT ST. PETERSBURG STATE CHEMICO-PHARMACEUTICAL UNIVERSITY CHEMICAL-PHARMACEUTICAL UNIVERSITY
S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National University is the leading Kazakhstani HEI in the field of medical and pharmaceutical education, and the Faculty of Pharmacy established in it, transformed in 2017 into the School of Pharmacy, has become part of the modern pharmaceutical industry, the first and leading forge of pharmaceutical personnel in Kazakhstan with a rich history and traditions.
International cooperation of S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU according to the development strategy of the University is an important part of its integration into the international educational space. The University management pays great attention and support to cooperation with leading foreign universities through the implementation of international educational programs to introduce two-diploma education, development of academic mobility of students, masters and Ph-D doctoral students, visiting professors program, conducting joint scientific research.
Since 2011, Sаnkt- Petersburg State Chemical and Pharmaceutical University (SPCPU) has been one of the leading partner universities, with which international cooperation on the scientific and educational process is carried out. SPCPU is the leading Russian university for training in the field of pharmacy, one of the most reputable and well-known in Eastern Europe. It is symbolic that on the website of SPCPU among the partners of the University is listed KazNMU named after S.D.Asfendiyarov.
Within the framework of this cooperation on January 30, 25 students of the School of Pharmacy, studying in the specialty “Technology of Pharmaceutical Production (TFP)”, flew to St. Petersburg to study at the partner university. The training will last a semester — until July 19. From among those willing to participate in this program were selected the best students of the 2nd, 3rd years.
Similar training of students of the School of Pharmacy of KazNMU, studying on specialty TFP, within the framework of development of academic mobility of students thanks to the partnership, is carried out annually in St. Petersburg in SPCPU for a semester.
Our students will not only study at SPCPU during the semester, but also participate in research work, conferences of young scientists and students, including the famous conference “Young Pharmacy”.
They will listen to lectures of leading professors, work in laboratories equipped with modern equipment, communicate with leading experts in the field of pharmacy and related disciplines. It is after participation in such programs of academic mobility of students of the School of Pharmacy of KazNMU, a number of students decide to continue their studies in the master’s program. It is symbolic that a number of works of undergraduates of the School of Pharmacy of KazNMU are carried out within the framework of joint programs with SPCPU.
National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken” together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for the fifth year conducts an independent assessment of educational programs of Kazakhstani universities. More than 2 thousand educational programs were evaluated, more than 81 thousand graduates were analyzed, more than 200 industry experts were involved, as a result of which more than 2 thousand expert opinions were drawn up for 97 universities.
The NPT evaluated universities according to 19 criteria, the main of which are: employment rate, median salary, accreditation of educational program, quality of teachers, relevance of programs. Thus, according to these data, the educational program (EP) “Technology of pharmaceutical production” of the School of Pharmacy of S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU was recognized as the best among all medical universities of Kazakhstan in this specialty.
It is oriented to the modern demands of the pharmaceutical industry development and is constantly being improved. Several major pharmaceutical companies of the world are planning to organize their production in Kazakhstan within the framework of development of localization of production of innovative drugs. Such success of the educational program was achieved due to the successful pedagogical, scientific activity of the teaching staff of the School of Pharmacy, headed by Dean Professor Sakipova Z.B., head of the EP “Technology of pharmaceutical production” Kozhanova K.K.
Kazakhstani students will participate in sports, cultural and other events held at the university. Our students are waiting not only for a busy semester of study in SPGCU, but also the opportunity in their free time to get acquainted with the sights of St. Petersburg and its surroundings. And there are a lot of them — after all it is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe with a number of remarkable architectural ensembles, monuments, buildings, complexes, museums, theaters. St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Summer Garden, Hermitage, Peter and Paul Fortress, Summer Garden, Russian Museum, palace and park ensemble in Peterhof, Tsarskoe Selo, Mariinsky Theater, Faberge Museum and many other sights.
