Educational Seminar on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Myasthenia Gravis and Meningococcal Infection in Almaty
The Department of Neurology of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University continues a series of educational activities for practical healthcare, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the university.
On December 2, 2025, an educational seminar was held in Almaty at the Central City Clinical Hospital No. 12, aimed at increasing knowledge and clinical awareness regarding myasthenia gravis and meningococcal infection among physicians of various specialties.
The event was organized within the framework of the institutional roadmap and focused on strengthening the professional competencies of neurologists, internists, and intensive care specialists, as well as enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration in the healthcare system.
The seminar was attended by neurologists, internists, intensive care physicians, as well as interns and residents of the Central City Clinical Hospital No. 12.
The event gathered specialists interested in expanding their knowledge of modern diagnostic algorithms and clinical protocols for managing patients with severe neuromuscular and infectious conditions.
The seminar featured presentations by leading experts:
- S.M. Sarzhanova, MD, neurologist of the highest category and Chief Adult Neurologist of the Public Health Department of Almaty, delivered a lecture on current approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of myasthenia gravis, including principles of disease severity assessment, clinical management, and the need for early therapeutic intervention.
- R.T. Tsoy, MD, PhD, neurologist and Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurology of KazNMU, presented an overview of the clinical diagnosis of meningococcal infection, emergency care algorithms, and strategies for interdisciplinary management of patients with severe neuroinfectious complications.
The presentations included clinical case examples, discussions of current diagnostic and treatment protocols, and practical aspects related to the early recognition of life-threatening conditions.
Participants highlighted the practical significance of the presented material, the high professional level of the lectures, and the importance of such educational initiatives for improving the quality of medical care in Almaty.
The organization of educational activities aimed at developing professional competencies and integrating modern clinical approaches remains one of the key priorities of the Department of Neurology within the framework of implementing the strategy for advancing medical education and healthcare practice, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the university.
