Indian graduates of KazNMU demonstrate the international standard of medical education
Indian students who have graduated from the Kazakh National Medical University named after S. D. Asfendiyarov (KazNMU) have recorded strong professional outcomes by successfully passing the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).
The FMGE is a mandatory national qualifying examination in India for medical graduates who obtained their degrees abroad. It is a key requirement for gaining the right to practise medicine in India and is widely regarded as one of the most challenging examinations for international graduates, largely due to its traditionally low pass rates.
In the most recent session, more than 270 Indian graduates of KazNMU passed the FMGE, representing one of the highest results among medical universities in the country. Of particular note is that the majority of students from the 2020 cohort passed the examination on their first attempt, highlighting the depth of both theoretical knowledge and clinical training they received.
These results reflect the strength of KazNMU’s medical education system, the high professional standards of its academic staff, and the university’s focused preparation of students for international licensing examinations.
The university also reports that it regularly receives letters from Indian graduates who have successfully passed the FMGE. In their messages, graduates express gratitude for the academic support, guidance and mentorship provided throughout their studies and during preparation for the examination.
Graduates from the 2020 cohort, in particular, have shared their pride in achieving the result, acknowledging the role of the dean’s office and university leadership, and emphasising that the education and clinical training received at KazNMU enabled them to confidently complete one of the most important steps towards medical practice in India.
The achievements of its graduates reinforce KazNMU’s reputation as a reliable educational platform for training doctors who are competitive on the global labour market, while also strengthening trust in the university among medical and educational institutions in India.
KazNMU is a university where the quality of international medical education is confirmed by tangible results.
Commenting on the outcomes, Rector of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, Marat Shoranov, said:
“We are particularly pleased to see our graduates working successfully in different parts of the world and demonstrating, through their professional practice, the quality of Kazakhstan’s medical education. Each graduate becomes a bearer of the standards and values of our university, contributing to the international reputation of KazNMU.
We take special pride in the fact that Indian graduates of KazNMU, having successfully confirmed their qualifications, continue their professional careers within India’s healthcare system. Their contribution to public health and their trust in the education they received at KazNMU are important indicators of the effectiveness of our academic and clinical school.
The professional geography of KazNMU graduates spans many regions of the globe, and each of them carries forward the values and standards of medical education instilled at the university. For KazNMU, this is a matter of particular pride and clear evidence that the university trains doctors who are in demand and recognised internationally.”
