Professor Fernando Scaglia to visit KazNMU under the Visiting Professor Program
As part of the «Visiting Professor» program Children diseases Department named after N.A. Barlybayeva is welcoming Professor Fernando Scaglia between 11-17th of March, 2026.
Professor Fernando Scaglia is a leading expert in inherited metabolic and mitochondrial diseases at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, USA. He is the director of the Department of Molecular Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, a principal investigator in international clinical trials developing new therapies for patients with mitochondrial diseases, and the author of over 280 scientific publications (h-index 63).
Professor Fernando Scaglia will give a series of lectures on inherited metabolic disorders according to the following program:

On March 13, 2026, as part of the «Visiting Professor» program and the international conference «Barlybaev Readings 2026,» a master class will be held on the topic: «Mitochondrial diseases in the practice of a pediatrician» with the issuance of certificates.
Additionally, consultations of patients with inborn errors of metabolism are planned as part of the professor’s visit. As well as discussing future scientific collaborations and ways of enhancing publication activity in international peer-reviewed journals.
