KazNMU Expands Cooperation with Chinese Scientific and Medical Organizations
On July 23, 2026, Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University (KazNMU) hosted a meeting between Vice-Rector S.E. Sultangaziyeva and a delegation from the Belt and Road Research Institute and the Rui Fu Tang International Center of Chinese Medicine. The Chinese delegation comprised eight representatives of scientific and medical organizations from China.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for establishing long-term cooperation in medical education, research and clinical practice. The Chinese representatives noted that they already operate a clinic in Almaty, creating additional opportunities for the implementation of joint educational and clinical projects.
Particular attention was given to developing cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine. The parties considered the possibility of launching educational programs, establishing a faculty or introducing dedicated specialties in traditional Chinese medicine at KazNMU. They also discussed the growing interest in this field among Kazakhstani healthcare professionals and students.
Another important area of discussion was the exchange of experience between medical professionals from Kazakhstan and China, including the organization of continuing professional development programs, academic mobility, joint research projects and professional internships.
KazNMU representatives also expressed interest in the experience of their Chinese colleagues in providing advanced medical care. In particular, the parties discussed cochlear implantation procedures and the surgical treatment of patients with microtia and prominent ears, including otoplasty.
The parties expressed interest in organizing joint master classes involving leading international specialists. These would include demonstration surgeries for auricular reconstruction in patients with microtia and otoplasty procedures, helping to enhance the professional training of local physicians and introduce modern surgical techniques.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing mutual interest in further cooperation and agreeing to continue discussions on specific areas and formats of collaboration. Afterwards, members of the Chinese delegation visited the KazNMU Museum, where they learned about the university’s history and development.
