Astana Neuroforum – 2025
On June 5–6, 2025, the Republican Conference with International Participation “Astana Neuroforum – 2025” was held, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Municipal State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management “Multidisciplinary City Hospital No.1.”
The event was organized by the Public Association “Academy of Neurologists of Astana” under the leadership of the Chief Neurologist of the Astana Department of Public Health, PhD S. Bryzgalova, and Associate Professor of the Department of Neurology at the Astana Medical University, PhD D. Alzhanova. The conference was also co-organized by the Astana Department of Public Health, the Municipal State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management “Multidisciplinary City Hospital No.1,” and the Department of Neurology at the NAO “Astana Medical University.”
The welcome speech was delivered by the Director of Multidisciplinary City Hospital No.1, Mr. E.Zh. Sarsenbayev. Today, Multidisciplinary City Hospital No.1 in Astana is a modern, high-level clinical center equipped with unique medical technologies, providing highly specialized medical care both in emergency and planned settings. The Department of Nervous Diseases of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov took an active part in the forum. The forum opened with a welcoming speech and best wishes for productive work from Professor E.S. Nurguzhaev, President of the Association of Neurologists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who also delivered a lecture on “Neurorehabilitation after Stroke.” Head of the Department of Nervous Diseases S.T. Turuspekova and Associate Professor K.K. Almakhanova gave an overview on the diagnosis and treatment of Myasthenia Gravis. The presentations by the faculty of the Department of Nervous Diseases sparked genuine interest and lively discussions among the audience.
Among the conference participants and speakers were leading experts from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, and the UAE. The conference program covered the latest achievements in neurological science—from cutting-edge diagnostics to innovative treatment methods. The key areas of focus included autoimmune and inflammatory diseases of the nervous system, cognitive and affective disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, pain management in neurology, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy.
As part of the international conference, a master class titled “Multiple Sclerosis School” was held, with top Russian experts in neurology and neuroradiology (T.O. Simaniv, V.V. Bryukhov) serving as trainers.
One of the highlights was the master class “Sleep Under Control: Diagnosis and Management of Insomnia and Sleep Apnea” conducted by Kazakhstan’s leading somnologist, Associate Professor, PhD A.S. Kasenova. The workshop included practical training on CPAP therapy for sleep apnea, which generated genuine interest and sparked active discussion.
The main goal of the conference was to exchange knowledge and experience with colleagues and to discuss progress and future prospects in the field of neurology.
