Belt and Road: Life Science Research and Public Health
On 02/21/2022 in the conference hall of «NJSC» of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, a round table was held regarding the possibilities of cooperation with Fudan University (Shanghai, China) within the framework of the program: «Health Belt and Road: Life Science Research and Public Health».
The round table was attended by: Vice-Rector for Strategic and Corporate Development Datkhaev U.M., Dean of the School of Public Health Karibaev K.B., Director of the Research Institute of Fundamental Medicine named after B.A. Atchabarova Saliev T.M., Professor of the Department of Public Health Toguzbayeva K.K., Lecturer of the Department of Public Health Zhumagaliuly A., Assistant of the Department of Biostatistics and Fundamentals of Scientific Research Khozhamkul R.A., Researchers of the Genomic Laboratory: Head of the Genomic Center Kachieva Z.S., Tolegenkyzy A., Bismildina G., Akhmetova Zh., Kenzhebekova R.
Director of the New Vision Eurasia Student Center-Kazakhstan, PhD Janabel Jiger, was present as a representative of Fudan University.
The round table meeting was organized by the initiative of the Dean of the School of Public Health Karibaev K.B., Professor of the Department of Public Health Toguzbayeva K.K., and Director of the New Vision Eurasia Student Center-Kazakhstan, PhD Janabel Jiger.
In the format of this round table, the head of the Genomic Center Kachieva Z.S. presented a report on the activities of the laboratory and the prospects for the development of molecular genetic research at the university.
During the meeting, the following issues were discussed:
(1) Potential of KazNMU Genomic Center;
(2) Discussion of an article by Professor, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of Fudan University Jin Li «Finding the «key» to health: from genome to phenotype» published in the journal Science No. 28.01.2022;
(3) Opportunities to expand the intervention of molecular genetic methods for the genotypic and phenotypic studies not only in Kazakhstan, but throughout Central Asia;
(4) Key benefits of partnership with «NJSC» KazNMU;
(5) Opportunities for staff development and exchange of experience between «NJSC» KazNMU and Fudan University;
(6) Possibilities of joint publication and exchange of scientific information;
(7) Conducting joint research in the Human Genome Project, etc.
