Building an effective publication strategy for the university
On October 13, 2025, a seminar on «Building an Effective University Publication Strategy» was held at the University Library.
This event was organized by the International Publishing House of Educational and Practice-Oriented Literature for Higher Education and Secondary Vocational Education.
Gulzhauar Bikzhanova, Chief Author Relations Specialist in the Republic of Kazakhstan, represents this Publishing House for Kazakhstani authors.
Participating in the seminar with the assistance of Dean Z.B. Sakipova were A.K. Boshkayeva and Aigerim Tolegenkyzy, faculty members of the School of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry.
EDP HUB, the initiator of this event, publishes classical educational literature and is also an IT developer of digital online resources, specifically in the field of education.
Currently, the Publishing Center offers six educational resources. One of these resources is designed for all institutions. The sixth platform is designed for colleges. All other platforms are focused on higher education.
This company currently collaborates with more than 778 universities and 400 colleges, including more than 70 universities in Kazakhstan. The platform contains approximately 160,000 publications in various fields. It focuses on the educational programs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and prepares works on educational platforms for universities and colleges. The E-UNI platform is free and already includes approximately 10,000 publications. The platform is connected to the medical collections of the book fund. Access to these platforms is provided at the library of the Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University via a login and password. This National Company is registered in Kazakhstan and has full legal rights to participate in the procurement of academic publications.
Authors can publish or republish their works on E-UNI, a specialized Kazakhstani educational platform, as well as on partner publishing platforms. These publications will be available to faculty and students at universities and colleges in Kazakhstan.
For authors, this is an opportunity to:
— share ideas and publications with a wide audience (domestic and international);
— increase the visibility and citation rate of their work;
— promote themselves and their university’s academic program.
E-UNI publishes educational, scientific, and practical publications for universities and colleges in all fields of study in Kazakh, Russian, and English.
Their primary publishing activities include:
1) Publishing electronic and printed editions.
2) Providing high-quality printing for publications.
3) Ensuring increased publication activity and citation rates.
4) Assigning ISBNs and DOIs to book publications, and transferring data to the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).
5) Promoting awareness and recognition of author’s works, promoting publications through free competitions and events.
6) Posting on educational platforms: E-UNI, IPR SMART PROF-education.
7) Protecting publications from illegal use and distribution.
The Publishing Center primarily produces academic publications: teaching aids, textbooks, and monographs. In 2024, 300 publications were already published, and by 2025, this number will reach over 480.
Thus, the university library is an important link in the information support of the educational and research processes at the university. Without a modern university library, there can be no modern educational, scientific, or pedagogical process. Without a sufficiently stocked library, the Asfendiyarov KazNMU cannot provide access to scientific, educational, methodological, and other related literature in electronic format.
