International conference «The role and place of Pharmacology in preparation of Health Care professionals: challenges of time and the ways of its solutions»
From September 30 to October 1, 2016 in Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University there was an international conference «The role and place of Pharmacology in preparation of Health Care professionals: challenges of time and the ways of its solutions» organised by the staff of the Department of Pharmacology at the support of partners — ENB, CoRSUM, Elsevier. The conference was attended by representatives of medical universities of Kazakhstan ( Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Semey, Turkestan, Shymkent), as well as Kazakh Medical University of Continuing Education and National centre of examination of medicines. As international experts were made by leading scientists and experts in the field of Pharmacology and rational use of medications as Professor David Woods (University of Otago, New Zealand), Duncan Enright (Managing Director EBN Health, UK), Professor Chebotarenko N.A. (Executive Director of Coalition of rational use of medications CoRSUM), Professor Edgaras Stankyavichus (Director of Institute of Pharmacology and Physiology of University of Health Sciences, Lithuania), Professor Ziganshina L.E. ( Kazan Federal University, Kochrane Russia, EuroHealth Group), Professor Tilekeyeva U.M. (Kyrgyz Medical Academy, Bishkek).
Currently in a dynamic growing medicine especially important to study pharmacology which provides fundamental knowledge of medications. This allows later to rationally choose medications for patients based on their individual characteristics, as well as laying the foundations for personalized therapy. Adequate drug therapy contributes to the effectiveness of treatment and, consequently, decreasing transition to the chronic form of diseases, disability reduction of the active working population. As shown by numerous studies of the most difficult questions in the practice of the physician are the choice of the drug, correct dosage according to the patient age, patient state, comorbidity. Particular importance acquire knowledge on unfavourable side effects, drug interactions, drug combinations etc. Basic knowledge on all these issues are put on a course of basic pharmacology. Therefore increase the relevance and importance of the study of pharmacology and, definitely, the improvement of teaching methods and educational programs which need to be revised to meet modern requirements and realities. In a project report of Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan «Technology transfer and institutional reform in Health Care of Kazakhstan for the years 2009 — 2015» (where the staff of the Department of Pharmacology took part in the training) reviewed and recommended the program of pharmacology during training at postgraduate level. However, the improvement of the educational program on the training of future practical medical doctors in the undergraduate programs period is no less important.
In the course of the conference have been identified common approaches in understanding and planning of educational program based on experience and recommendations of international experts. It was also decided to improve educational process, introduce methods for the most optimal way of study pharmacology on the different levels of training medical and pharmaceutical specialists of the health care which meet international standards and allow to prepare a competitive and competent professionals with culture of rational prescribing of medications. The need to increase the volume of hours was noted dedicated to the study of basic pharmacology in order to improve effectiveness of learning of all groups of medications. Conference participants identified the main provisions of the resolution adopted at the conference.
