KazNMU CAOS Team Wins Second Place at the International Surgery Olympiad

From December 10 to 12, the VIII International Olympiad in Surgery was held at the Novosibirsk State Medical University.

The following teams took part in the Olympiad:

2. Karaganda Medical University (Kazakhstan)
3. Saint Luke Lugansk State Medical University
4. First Pavlov Saint Petersburg State Medical University
5. Tyumen State Medical University, Russia
6. Khanty-Mansiysk State Medical Academy (KhMGMA), Russia
7. Five teams from Novosibirsk State Medical University
8. CAOS team of S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University

6. Application of a plaster cast
7. Vascular suturing
8. Primary surgical debridement (PSD)
9. Billroth gastric resection
10. Hernia repair
11. Urology
12. Tendon suturing
13. Plastic surgery
14. Pirogov table
15. Emergency care
16. Surgical instruments
17. Theoretical competition
18. Knots
19. Creative competition

The International Surgery Olympiad traditionally brings together talented and motivated medical students, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ability to work as a team in conditions close to real clinical practice.

At the Olympiad, KazNMU was represented by the CAOS team under the leadership of Kulmira Belgazhaevna Abdykerimova, Associate Professor of the Department of General Surgery and Topographic Anatomy of S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University. The team included students from different years and faculties united by their interest in surgery and their aspiration for professional growth:

The international status of the event contributed to active professional and cultural exchange among future physicians.

The CAOS team of S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University won **second place overall**.

On December 11, 2025, our students also took part in the International Morphological Conference in the section *“Topographic Anatomy and Operative Surgery”*, where Zere Tastemir won **second place**, Mustafa Karimov won **third place**, and Khava Metieva won **third place**.
