KazNMU Team “Neural Synapses” Wins “Most Creative Team” Nomination at the International Olympiad in Moscow
From March 23 to 27, 2026, the in-person stage of the International Olympiad on Disaster Medicine was held in Moscow at the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. The event brought together 16 of the strongest student teams from different countries.
Kazakhstan and S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU were достойно represented by the team “Neural Synapses,” which demonstrated a high level of training, professionalism, and innovative clinical thinking.
The team was supervised by Masters of Medicine, assistant professors of the Emergency Medical Care Department, Balkanay G.B. and Yeleusiz M.E. The participants successfully completed an intensive program максимально close to real-life conditions.
Participants were required to:
solve 10 complex situational tasks across 8 specialized stations;
demonstrate tactical medicine skills at the Military Training Center;
take part in a large-scale emergency response scenario, “Explosion in a Café.”
In conditions demanding rapid decision-making, coordinated teamwork, and high stress resilience, KazNMU students proved themselves as true future professionals.
Following the results of the Olympiad, the team “Neural Synapses” was awarded an honorary diploma and won the “Most Creative Team” nomination. The organizers especially noted the originality of their problem-solving approach and their strong practical training.
