Moon Jong-ho, Director of Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital, Appointed Honorary Professor of Kazakhstan National Medical University
Suncheonhyang University Bucheon Hospital (Hospital Director Moon Jong-ho) announced on the 4th that President Marat Shoranov of the National Medical University of Kazakhstan visited the hospital and presented a letter of appointment as an honorary professor to Moon Jong-ho, the head of the hospital.
The visit was made to discuss strengthening international medical cooperation with Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital during President Shoranov’s visit to Korea to attend ‘QS Higher ED Summit: Asia Pacific 2025’. The Kazakh National Medical University (KazNMU) is the first medical school in Kazakhstan established in 1931, with approximately 15,000 students and 1,500 teachers. President Shoranov is a health policy expert who served as Kazakhstan’s first deputy minister of health and has been president since 2022.
Since signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for international medical cooperation in April 2023, Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital and Kazakhstan National Medical University have been actively cooperating, including joint operation of the hospital manager program.
The appointment ceremony was attended by key officials, including Moon Jong-ho, director of Soon Chun Hyang University Bucheon Hospital, Kim Hyung-chul, head of the Special Office for International Medical Cooperation, and Lee Jong-sik, secretary-general, and Shoranov and Karibaev, head of the International Cooperation Department, from Kazakhstan’s National Medical University. The event included hospital introduction, discussions on cooperation, an honorary professor appointment ceremony, and a tour of hospital facilities.
Director of the hospital, Moon Jong-ho, expressed hope that the two institutions will strengthen practical cooperation in all areas of education, research, and medical treatment, including training of medical personnel, clinical research, and smart medical care»»We will continue to expand the international medical network with Kazakhstan and other Central Asian regions to work hard to recover the health of severely ill patients who are difficult to treat locally. »
Meanwhile, Suncheonhyang University Bucheon Hospital has been promoting various international cooperation projects such as ▲ appointment of honorary professors and training programs for local medical personnel ▲ treatment of Kazakh patients and operation of video cooperation centers through exchanges with Kazakhstan. Through the international medical network established with Bucheon City, it successfully treated Kazakhstan’s stomach cancer patients and attracted local media attention.
