Students from Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University are winners of the prestigious IMRC 2025 international conference in Thailand
On December 13–14, 2025, the International Medical Student Research Conference (IMRC 2025) was held in Bangkok, Thailand, at Phramongkutklao Medical College. This event is a major discussion platform, bringing together young scientists from 20 countries this year. The full list of participating countries presented at the forum includes:
- Asia and Oceania: China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam;
- Europe: Bulgaria, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Yugoslavia;
- Central Asia: Kazakhstan;
- North America: United States of America.
The scale of the competition is demonstrated by the participation of representatives from 46 Thai and 61 international medical schools. A total of 294 research papers were submitted to the judging panel.
Fourth-year students from the Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University successfully represented themselves at the competition. Their scientific work receiving high praise from international experts:
Gold Level
Iskander Isgandarov, a fourth-year student in the International Faculty, was awarded the highest award.
Research topic: «Application of the Deepsurv Model for Predicting Survival in Very Low Birth Weight Neonates in the ICU.»
Scientific supervisors: Professor Anel Tarabayeva, Associate professor Arailym Abilbayeva (A.A. Shortanbayev General Immunology Department)
Bronze Level
Seitkhan Balausa, a fourth-year student in the School of General Medicine-2, successfully defended her project and was among the conference prize winners.
Research topic: «Identification of Key Genes and Signaling Pathways in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis by Bioinformatics Analysis.»
Scientific supervisors: Elmira Bitanova, Head of the A.A. Shortanbayev General Immunology Department; Associate professor Arailym Abilbayeva.
Narmetov Daniyor, a fourth-year student of the International Faculty, successfully defended his research project and was among the medalists at the conference.
Research topic: «In silico study of new piperazine derivatives»
Scientific supervisor: Associate Professor of the Pharmacology Department Malika Khaiitova.
