Training on the Methodology for Implementing the Training Modules of the ERASMUS Plus BERNICA Program Successfully Conducted
On March 6, 2025, a training session on the methodology for implementing the training modules of the ERASMUS Plus BERNICA program was successfully conducted.
As part of the program, employees of the School of Occupational Health and the Faculty of Public Administration of S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University (KazNMU) were trained.
The training was led by the coordinator and trainers of the ERASMUS Plus program, funded by the European Union, with the aim of enhancing the competencies of academic staff and increasing the recognition of the program in the field of higher education. The event took place at the Center for Innovations in Education and Research in Occupational Health and the Environment at KazNMU and formed part of a broader strategy to strengthen the potential of higher education and science. A total of 10 participants took part in the training.
The training was delivered in an intensive format with the participation of Professor Karlygash Kabdeshevna Toguzbaeva, Doctor of Medical Sciences and coordinator of the CANERIEH, TUTORIAL, HARMONEE, and BERNICA projects under the ERASMUS Plus program in the Republic of Kazakhstan and at KazNMU. Professor Toguzbaeva introduced participants to earlier ERASMUS Plus projects and shared information on their outcomes.
Following her presentation, trainers of the BERNICA project (Building Educational and Research Capacities in Nutrition and Dietetics in Central Asia) delivered sessions. The trainers included: Dr. Arailym Kairatovna Beisbekova, Ph.D., Associate Professor, T. Sharmanov Department of Nutrition, Rabiga Khozhamkul, Assistant, Department of Biostatistics, Dmitry Konstantinovich Sokolov, Assistant, Department of Public Health.
Participants attended trainings and master classes on the following nutrition and dietetics modules:
- Nutrition in COPD
- Human Nutrition
- Advanced Nutrition and Dietetics in Metabolic Syndrome
- Mental Health
- Nutrition in the Elderly
- Nutrition for School-Aged Children
- Old Products – New Components
- Sports Nutrition
- Clinical Nutrition Practice in Chronic Kidney Diseases
These modules are currently being integrated into educational programs. Student classes are being conducted with feedback mechanisms in place to evaluate the results of the training.
Further trainings and master classes are planned for a broader audience, including university faculty, undergraduate and graduate students (bachelor’s, residents, master’s, and doctoral), as well as practicing healthcare professionals.
