Trainings on Effective Use of Health Data
On November 27–28, 2025, trainings on effective use of health data for managerial decision-making were held in Almaty.
The trainings were organized by the National Scientific Center for Health Development named after Salidat Kayyrbekova, as part of a joint initiative by WHO, UNICEF, and the UN Development Programme, with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the SDG Joint Fund. The purpose of the trainings was to support decision-making based on the effective use of health data.
The event was attended by the Dean of the School of Public Health named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov, Z.K. Kozhekenova, and the Head of the Department of Public Health, A.K. Izekenova.
The event aimed at strengthening the national health information management system and developing data-driven approaches. Key topics covered during the training included:
- modern data sources and standards for their collection;
- assessment of quality and completeness of medical information;
- use of international classifiers and indicators;
- use of data in policy formation and managerial decision-making.
The training included both theoretical presentations and demonstrations of practical tools for statistical data analysis. Special attention was paid to data comparability, international approaches to disease burden assessment, and modern methods of information visualization.
The event provided an important platform for experience exchange among experts from various organizations, discussion of current challenges in data management, and identification of directions for further development of the national health information system.
