Virginia Lynch, the founder of forensic nursing, delivered a lecture at KazNMU
On November 17, 2025, a lecture was delivered by the internationally recognized expert and founder of forensic nursing science, Virginia A. Lynch (MSN, RN, FCNS, DF-IAFN, DF-AAFS, FAAN), on the topic “Forensic Nursing Science. Gender-Based Violence.”
The event attracted significant interest from healthcare and nursing professionals.
Virginia Lynch is a key figure in the development of the international school of forensic nursing and the author of the world’s first educational programs for forensic nurses. She is an honorary member of the American Association of Forensic Nurses and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, as well as a recognized leader in combating gender-based violence.
During her presentation, Virginia Lynch discussed in detail the role of forensic nurses in providing assistance to victims of gender-based violence. The central topics of the lecture included:
- Features of interaction between healthcare professionals and victims
- Principles of a trauma-informed approach
- Methods of collecting, documenting, and preserving forensic evidence
