Dementia Awareness Day: Knowledge, Support and Care
On September 23, 2026, an interdisciplinary event dedicated to raising awareness of dementia and improving approaches to care for people living with dementia and their families will be held at Almaty City Clinical Hospital No. 1 as part of World Alzheimer’s and Dementia Awareness Day.
The event will provide a platform for gaining up-to-date knowledge, exchanging professional experience, and engaging directly with specialists.
Participants will learn about current approaches to the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of dementia, as well as the specific aspects of dementia care and available options for psychological and social support.
Organizers:
- Almaty City Clinical Hospital No. 7;
- Department of Nervous Diseases, S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University;
- Association of Neurologists of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Kazakhstan Alzheimer & Dementia Alliance (KA&DA);
- Almaty City Clinical Hospital No. 1;
- with the support of the Almaty City Public Health Department.
The program will cover:
- early detection and diagnosis of dementia;
- current approaches to treatment;
- cognitive and behavioral symptoms;
- organization of care for people living with dementia;
- support for family members and caregivers;
- an interdisciplinary approach to providing medical, psychological, and social support for people living with dementia.
We invite physicians and other healthcare professionals, social workers, psychologists, as well as anyone interested in dementia who would like to expand their knowledge and practical skills.
The event will also be valuable for family members and caregivers of people living with dementia.
