Academic Mobility in Action: Visit of a Professor from Yaroslavl State Medical University to KazNMU

As part of the academic mobility and international cooperation program between Yaroslavl State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University (KazNMU), Professor Dmitry Sergeevich Kasatkin, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor at the Department of Neurology, Medical Genetics, and Neurosurgery of YSMU, visited KazNMU from May 29 to June 6, 2025.

At the invitation of the Department of Neurology of KazNMU, Professor Kasatkin delivered a series of in-person lectures and practical classes for residents on the topic “Emergency Conditions in Neurology and Neurocritical Care” and presented a separate thematic module on autoimmune encephalitis, a condition of growing clinical importance.

The sessions were marked by high participant engagement, active discussions, and the analysis of real clinical cases. The topic of autoimmune encephalitis, in particular, sparked great interest among the residents, who noted the novelty, practical relevance, and depth of the material presented.

Thanks to the efforts of the Head of the Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Chief Freelance Neurologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, S.T. Turuspekova, and Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor R.B. Nurzhanova, it has become possible to invite such highly qualified international specialists as Professor Kasatkin. This creates unique opportunities for broadening the residents’ professional horizons, strengthening international cooperation, and integrating modern approaches into neurological education.
