International Academic Collaboration: Professor from Germany Visits KazNMU
On October 19, 2026, Professor Wolfram Döhner, MD, PhD, DIC, FESC, FHFA, FGCS, commenced his academic visit under the Academic Visiting Program at the Department of Internal Medicine with a Course in Hematology at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, following the department’s invitation. At the opening ceremony of the visit, S. H. Izmailova, Dean of the School of Public Health (SOPH), delivered a welcoming address and wished the conference every success.
The central theme of the lectures was one of the most pressing issues in modern medicine: the relationship between brain disorders and cardiovascular diseases, known as the Brain–Heart Axis concept.
Professor Döhner presented contemporary scientific approaches to understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment of stroke in the context of cardiovascular pathology.
The lectures took place in the N.L. Kotova Lecture Hall and, on the second day, in the Hall of Fame at KazNMU.
The educational events were actively attended by the department’s faculty members and residents specializing in internal medicine, neurology, endocrinology, and other medical fields.
The sessions generated particular interest through lively scientific discussions, questions from participants, and the analysis of complex clinical cases, creating an opportunity to bridge international scientific expertise with everyday clinical practice.
The Academic Visiting Program continues!
As part of the 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference on “Arterial, Intracardiac and Venous Thrombosis,” Professor Wolfram Döhner continues his lecture series addressing current challenges in thrombosis, including its diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.
The presentations by the international expert consistently attract considerable interest and draw full audiences of practicing physicians from various specialties, university faculty members, residents, and medical students.
International academic collaboration is an important step towards integrating cutting-edge scientific advances into medical education and clinical practice in Kazakhstan!
The Department of Internal Medicine with a Course in Hematology at KazNMU continues to strengthen its international scientific and educational partnerships, fostering professional dialogue, the exchange of expertise, and the implementation of modern medical knowledge.
