Master’s Degree — A Path to Science, Innovation and Professional Development
On September 7, 2026, a meeting with first-year master’s students of various educational programs, including «Pharmacy» and «Technology of Pharmaceutical Production», was held at the Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University.
The First Vice-Rector of the University, Dilyara Radikovna Kaidarova — Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered a welcoming speech. In her speech, she focused on the need to orient the research work of master’s students towards practical significance and subsequent commercialization, and also emphasized the importance of the early involvement of students in scientific activities.
The Head of the Department of Master’s and Doctoral Studies, Saule Askerovna Yessenkulova, PhD, Associate Professor, spoke about the activities of the master’s and doctoral programs, presenting the requirements for the organization of the educational process, scientific training, and the execution of research work. The supervising chief specialist of the Department of Master’s and Doctoral Studies, Saltanat Aitakhunovna Bukabayeva, introduced the master’s students to key regulatory documents, the rules of academic policy, the requirements for mastering educational programs, as well as the procedure for organizing the final certification and defense of dissertations.
Deans of schools and heads of structural divisions also spoke before the master’s students: Zuriyadda Bektemirovna Sakipova (School of Pharmacy), Zhanat Asetovna Kozhekenova (School of Public Health), Saule Serikovna Yesembayeva (School of Dentistry), Slu Khabibievna Izmailova (School of Medicine), and the Director of the Department for Work with Foreign Students, Nurzhamal Zhenisovna Dzhardemaliyeva, who presented key directions for the development of educational programs and the features of the educational process.
The heads of the departments of the School of Pharmacy made presentations on specialized areas of training, educational trajectories, and opportunities for master’s students to participate in research work and academic mobility.
The speech of the Dean of the School of Pharmacy was specifically noted, in which the main performance indicators, the potential of educational programs, and the significance of the continuity of training levels (bachelor’s — master’s — doctoral studies) were presented. The student body of the school exceeds 1.4 thousand people.
The academic staff potential is characterized by a high level of degree-holding professionals — from 58% to 67% across departments, which ensures high-quality scientific supervision and the development of innovative directions. The teaching staff actively participates in advanced training programs and academic mobility.
In scientific activity, grant funding projects are implemented (8 projects of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 8 intra-university projects, as well as initiative and youth projects), publication activity in Q1-Q4 journals is developing, and work is underway to obtain patents and copyright certificates.
During the meeting, student achievements, participation in scientific events, and the development of modern trends, including «green pharmacy» and sustainable development, were also presented.
In conclusion, recommendations were given to master’s students on successful adaptation to the educational process, adherence to the principles of academic integrity, and active participation in scientific projects.
Holding such meetings contributes to forming a clear understanding of academic guidelines and learning outcomes among master’s students, and also ensures their effective integration into the scientific and educational environment of the university and the development of professional and research competencies.
