International Scientific and Practical Conference within the Framework of the BaiQymyz Festival
On July 19–20, 2025, the gastrofestival “BaiQymyz – Baptalgan kymyz” was held at the Kazanat hippodrome in Astana, the key event of which was the international scientific and practical conference “Mare’s milk and kumys – the basis of health and longevity of nomads”. More than 50 kumys producers from all over the country participated in the festival, over 30 tons of the drink were collected, 77,000 guests were present—a record for Kazakhstan. The “Best Kumys” competition was also held with a prize fund of 45 million tenge (I — 20 million, II — 15 million, III — 10 million). The winner was “Zhanys” from the Abay region, the second place was taken by the Karaganda region, the third place was taken by the Akmola region. An equally extensive cultural and ethno program, as well as an exhibition of ancient Kazakh horse breeds (Zhaby, Kostanay, Mugazhar, Adai, etc.), as well as elite sports racehorses.
The International Scientific and Practical Conference within the framework of the BaiQymyz festival brought together leading specialists in the field of gastroenterology, dietetics, microbiology, ethnomedicine and veterinary medicine from Kazakhstan, Germany, Russia (including representatives of the Sakha Republic) and Kyrgyzstan.
Representatives of the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Musayev A.T., Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor Eraliyeva L.T., vice-president of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, PhD, associate professor Amantayeva E.B., doctoral students Indershiyev V.A., Shametova A.N., Nuralikyzy Zh., Berduash N.B., intern Sabyrkey D.T., Zharylkasynova D.Zh., Busabayeva A.M., bachelors Tokarev M.Yu., Khakimzhanov M.R., Khamitova A.Yu., Upagali Z.Zh., presented a number of scientific reports and theses on the use of kumis in clinical practice, its effect on intestinal microbiota, immunomodulatory properties and prospects for use in rehabilitation medicine.
The conference became an important platform for combining scientific and practical experience in promoting kumis as a unique element of national medicine. The BaiQymyz 2025 festival has become historic. The combination of folk traditions, modern science and international level of participation is the key to its transformation into a sustainable brand of national culture and health.
