Triumph of Kazakhstani Science on the World Stage: Delegation from Asfendiyarov KazNMU Makes Its Mark at the International Congress of the Turkic World on Multiple Sclerosis
Istanbul became the epicenter of cutting-edge medical thought, hosting the grand VIII International Congress of the Turkic World on Multiple Sclerosis. This large-scale scientific forum was organized under the auspices of the authoritative Turkish Multiple Sclerosis Research and Support Association (TURKTRIMS), headed by recognized leaders of the global medical community and Congress Co-Chairs, Professor Şeref Demirkaya and Professor Hüsnü Efendi. A key role in the outstanding organization and coordination of this international event was played by the Congress Secretary-General, Doctor of Neuropsychological Sciences Aynur Feyzioğlu.
The event brought together leading neurologists, scientists, and professors from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Northern Cyprus. Representatives of the Turkic republics gathered on a single platform to consolidate their efforts, exchange experience, and develop unified international protocols for addressing severe demyelinating diseases of the nervous system.
The Kazakhstani delegation not only participated in this prestigious alliance but also demonstrated the high level of the country’s academic medical school. Representing Kazakhstan and the flagship institution of medical education, S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, were distinguished experts and opinion leaders:
- Professor E.S. Nurguzhaev — a renowned figure in Kazakhstani neurology, who presented key preclinical and epidemiological data on multiple sclerosis in Kazakhstan, highlighting the continuity of the fundamental traditions of the Department of Nervous Diseases.
- Associate Professor R.B. Nurzhanova — a prominent representative of the advanced academic community of S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU, actively implementing progressive standards in medical education and patient care.
- A. Efstavyeva — the respected Head of the Karaganda Autoimmune Center, whose unique practical experience in organizing regional medical care generated strong interest and recognition among international colleagues.
The integration of the experience of Kazakhstani experts with the expertise of their Turkish counterparts laid a solid foundation for future multicenter research initiatives within the Turkic medical community.
Having passed on the torch of innovation and strengthened international bridges of cooperation, the Congress Presidium officially announced the direction for future collaboration. The next, IX International Congress of the Turkic World, will open its doors in hospitable Kyrgyzstan, where this important journey in the name of human health will continue.
