Upholding the Traditions of Compassion: Nurturing a Generation of Humanistic Physicians as a Priority of the Department of Nervous Diseases at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University
As part of the Qazynaly Qarttarym campaign, held in observance of the International Day of Older Persons, an initiative aimed at supporting the health and improving the quality of life of older adults was organized at Alatau City Hospital.
The initiative included medical examinations, educational and awareness-raising activities on disease prevention and health maintenance, as well as home visits to older adults to provide medical care and present them with gifts.
First-year residents of the Department of Nervous Diseases at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, Gaukhar Karzhaubaiqyzy and Kobeisin Zhanabaev, actively participated in the initiative under the supervision of N.M. Kozhekenova, Assistant and Clinical Mentor. Demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and genuine compassion, the young physicians enthusiastically contributed to efforts to promote the health and well-being of older adults.
The Department of Nervous Diseases at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University places particular emphasis not only on developing the high-level professional competencies of future neurologists but also on nurturing a generation of physicians who are compassionate, empathetic, and socially responsible. Respect for older generations, compassion, a willingness to help those in need, and attentive care for every patient are integral components of medical ethics and the professional development of young specialists.
The participation of residents in such social initiatives helps reinforce these values and highlights the importance of uniting professional knowledge, humanity, and civic responsibility in the medical profession.
In recognition of their active participation in the initiative, Alatau City Hospital presented the young specialists with letters of appreciation.
To educate a physician is to shape not only a skilled professional but also a person with a compassionate heart, for whom caring for the health, dignity, and well-being of every patient is the highest calling.
