Visit of A.Komori (NHO, Nagasaki Medical Center, Japan) to S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU
From 18 to 25 November 2016 S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU was visited by Professor Atsumasa Komori M.D., PhD (Clinical Research Center, NHO Nagasaki Medical Center, Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Japan). A. Komori is a recognized expert in the field of diagnosis and treatment of patients with autoimmune liver diseases, chronic viral hepatitis, liver tumors. A.Komori is a member of the Japanese Society of Hepatology, the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver (APASL).
In 2015 A.Komori awarded a degree of honored professor of KazNMU , he is mentor of Hepatology center, who implement methodical and consultative help related to organization of medical help to the patients with liver disease and preparation of staff based on Nagasaki Medical Center
According to the visit program with the participation of A. Komori the events in the field of educational, clinical, and research activities were carried out.
For the staff of clinical departments and doctors of basic medical clinics two round tables were conducted where the problems of management of patients with chronic diffuse liver diseases by using modern diagnostic and treatment methods were discussed.
On November, 22nd, 2016 on the basis of KazNMU Internal Medicine Clinic a round table on the topic of «Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease: a multidisciplinary problem. Criteria for diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of patients» was held. The relevance of this disease and the need to study the prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in patients with metabolic syndrome, the pathogenesis, and prevention of its progression were emphasized. By the results of round table the mutual research projects of Internal Medicine Clinic and Nagasaki Medical Center on the theme of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease were scheduled.
On November, 24th, 2016 in the #1 City Clinical Hospital the round table on the theme of «Autoimmune liver disease: modern management of patients treatment» with the doctors — gastroenterologists and physicians of Almaty medical institutions, the staff of clinical departments KazNMU was discussed the management of liver autoimmune diseases. The round table with professor A.Komori reached an agreement to conduct mutual research on the prevalence and clinical course of autoimmune diseases of the liver in the Republic of Kazakhstan
Within the framework of educational program interactive workshops with medical interns were conducted in the period from 23.11.2016 to 25.11.2016. The workshops were dedicated to the modern methods of treatment of chronic viral hepatitis and the management of patients with liver cirrhosis and its complication, hepatocellular carcinoma.
During the visit to the scientific clinical diagnostic laboratory of Scientific Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Medicine named after B. Atchabarov, A.Komori discussed the possibility of expanding the range of laboratory methods for the diagnosis of liver autoimmune diseases, fibrosis of the liver with the administration of the Institute, as well as the implementation of integrated mutual research on the study of pathogenesis and factors progression of liver disease.
Within the framework of joint research activities with the responsible executives the consultations on performed research projects “Improving the health of the RK population on the base of use the technologies of personalized medicine” and “Development of evidence-based approaches to the diagnosis of chronic diffuse liver diseases” were carried out.
Hepatology Center staff discussed with A.Komori a ways of conducting a diagnostic issues of unclear patients, he had consulted all 8 patients with liver disease.
During the meeting of A.Komori with KazNMU rector — prof. Hamzina N.K. and Vice-Rector for clinical activity prof. Doskaliyev A.Z. discussed a prospects of cooperation between KazNMU and Nagasaki Medical Center in the field of joint research, clinical activities and training.
