ALA HEPATO FORUM 2026 — II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Interdisciplinary Management of Liver Diseases”
On April 24, 2026, the II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Interdisciplinary Management of Liver Diseases” was held in Almaty. The forum was initiated by the Scientific and Practical Society of Gastroenterologists of Almaty with the support of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University and the Public Health Department of Almaty.
Welcoming remarks at the plenary session were delivered by Deputy Head of the Public Health Department of Almaty L.T. Imangalieva and President of the Scientific and Practical Society of Gastroenterologists of Almaty, Professor B.S. Iskakov.
Leading national and international scientists shared their experience in managing pregnant women with liver diseases. Issues such as liver damage in infectious diseases, modern laboratory and instrumental diagnostics, treatment and prevention strategies for patients with liver and gastrointestinal diseases, and preparation of patients with end-stage liver disease for transplantation were discussed.
A separate session addressed modern approaches to the pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of patients with cardio-reno-hepato-metabolic syndrome from the perspective of a multidisciplinary team including cardiologists, internists, endocrinologists, and hepatologists
The conference was attended by leading Kazakhstani scientists as well as specialists from Russia and India.
Faculty members of the Department of Internal Medicine of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University actively participated in organizing and conducting the conference. Professor E.A. Slavko served as the scientific head of the program committee, while Professor G.Kh. Zhansarina and Associate Professor D.A. Kapsultanova were speakers.
As part of the conference, a poster competition for young scientists and residents titled “Innovations in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Patients with Gastrointestinal Diseases” was held. The competition committee selected the winners. Prize-winning places were awarded to residents of the Department of Internal Medicine specializing in Therapy, as well as residents from the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy and Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University.
About 200 physicians of various specialties (general practitioners, internists, gastroenterologists, infectious disease specialists, surgeons, endoscopists, endocrinologists) from healthcare institutions in Almaty, Almaty region, and other regions of Kazakhstan participated in the conference.
The conference contributed to improving the professional level of healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with liver and hepatobiliary diseases, based on modern achievements of medical science and practice, principles of evidence-based medicine, and a multidisciplinary approach.
The event was implemented in line with the priorities of Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 “Quality Education” and Goal No. 17 “Partnerships for the Goals.”
