KazNMU at GxP-FEST 2026: Victory in the “Digital Pharmacy of the Future” Track
Students from the School of Pharmacy at the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University emerged as winners at the “6th International GxP-Fest 2026” held in Moscow on April 23, 2026.
— Two teams from the Department of Engineering Disciplines and Good Practices took top prizes in the “Digital Pharmacy of the Future” category as part of the student project accelerator.
The festival, organized by the Eurasian Academy of Good Practices, brings together students in relevant fields, industry experts, and representatives of regulatory bodies. Its key objective is to develop practical competencies in the field of GxP and to train personnel for the modern pharmaceutical industry.
Focus on Digital Solutions
In 2026, special attention was given to projects related to the digital transformation of manufacturing, process automation, and data-driven quality management. Teams from KazNMU presented developments focused on the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies in the pharmaceutical industry.
The winners in the “Digital Pharma of the Future” category of the student project accelerator were the following projects:
1st place: “Development of a digital twin for a continuous synthesis and purification system for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) using Python-based PAT tools” by 4th-year student Daniyar Askarovich Konarbayev, majoring in Pharmaceutical Technology. Advisor: Lecturer, M.Sc. Elmira Kasymbekovna Zhaimbaeva
2nd Project: “Application of Arduino-based ‘smart’ sensors in pharmaceutical manufacturing” by 4th-year students majoring in Technology of pharmaceutical production —Aynara Meirzhanovna Nogayali and Nuray Abayqyzy Orynbek. Supervisor: Lecturer, M.Sc. Elmira Kasymbekovna Zhaimbaeva
The winner of the student project accelerator in the field of “Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technologies” was the project: “Development and Scaling of a Biotechnological Process for the Biotransformation of Biologically Active Components of Berberis Integerrima Bunge Using a Symbiotic SCOBY Culture” by third-year students majoring in Technology of pharmaceutical production: Petrenko Aleksandra Aleksandrovna, Viktorov Dias Viktorovich, and Erkin Bibinur Ruslankyzy. Two teams of 4 year students majoring in “Technology of pharmaceutical production” were named winners of the “GxP – good pharmaceutical practices” competition
1. Team “GxP Innovators” Technology of pharmaceutical production students: Zulpaidar Zarina Mambetkyzy, Shuppasova Zhanara Nurbolatovna, Tazhibayeva Aruzhan Kairatkyzy, Makhsutova Aruzhan Bekzatkyzy. Research Advisor: PhD, Assosiate Professor Karlygash Altynbekovna Zhaparkulova
2. “Veritas Pharm” team. Specialized students in Technology of pharmaceutical production: Maral Asylzhanqyzy Turegeldieva, Aruzhan Eldosqyzy Ashmkul, Merey Muslimovna Kurymbaeva, Aydana Nurbolatqyzy Batyrbekova. Research supervisor: Lecturer, PhD candidate Abay Zholdasovich Masakbaev.

Participation in the accelerator program enabled students to tackle real-world challenges in pharmaceutical manufacturing, apply GMP and GEP principles, and master modern digital tools—from IoT to production management systems.
