Dr. Radmila T. Tsoy, MD, MPH, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Neurology at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University and practicing neurologist, participated in the 44th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID 2026), held from 1–5 June 2026 in Bologna, Italy, and online.
Following her participation, Dr. Tsoy was awarded an official CME/CPD Certificate, recognizing the successful completion of the educational program and the acquisition of 20 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).
ESPID is one of the world’s leading professional organizations in the field of infectious diseases, bringing together scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals from around the globe to discuss advances in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases, vaccination strategies, and public health challenges.
One of the highlights of the meeting was a lecture delivered by Professor Ron Dagan (Israel), an internationally recognized expert in pediatric infectious diseases and vaccinology. During his presentation, Professor Dagan shared recent evidence on the interaction between respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and Streptococcus pneumoniae. The lecture demonstrated how RSV infection may facilitate pneumococcal colonization of the respiratory tract and increase the risk of severe bacterial complications. These findings emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to respiratory infection prevention, including pneumococcal vaccination and emerging RSV prevention strategies.
Participation in ESPID 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest scientific discoveries, international clinical recommendations, and innovative approaches in medicine. The knowledge gained will contribute to the advancement of research, education, and evidence-based healthcare practices in Kazakhstan.
Dr. Tsoy is actively involved in research on cognitive impairment, dementia, digital health, and healthy aging. She collaborates with international research teams and contributes to the development of interdisciplinary approaches aimed at improving healthcare outcomes for older adults.
The CME/CPD certificate reflects Dr. Tsoy’s commitment to lifelong learning, professional development, and the integration of international best practices into clinical care, research, and medical education.
