Round Table Discussion: “Prevention of Drug, Alcohol and Substance Abuse”
A round table discussion titled “Prevention of Drug, Alcohol and Substance Abuse” was held at the Scientific Library of KazNMU, focusing on strategies for addiction prevention. The purpose of the event was to promote a healthy lifestyle among students, prevent harmful habits, and increase awareness of the medical and social consequences of addiction. The event was conducted in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being). This goal focuses on ensuring healthy lives, preventing diseases, and promoting well-being for all. The following presentations were delivered: Ayanov Beknur presented on toxicomania, highlighting the dangers of inhalant abuse (glue sniffing) among adolescents. Students of group OZ23-001 (Orazaly Aliman, Alimgazina Amina, Khasengali Samal) delivered a presentation on “Drug addiction as a threat to modern society.” PhD doctoral student Dikhan M.D. presented “Alcoholism and its impact on health.” During the interactive session, student Baidalin Bauyrzhan actively participated, answered questions confidently, and clearly outlined prevention strategies against harmful habits. The event was professionally documented through photography by Bakonay Turar. Poster Competition: Posters were presented on the following themes: “Life without drugs” – MPD23-001k; “Alcohol – a silent enemy” – Med23-001k; “The choice is yours” – Ped23-002k. All posters were creative and meaningful. All participants were equally awarded and received commemorative prizes. The event was successfully conducted at a high level, enhancing students’ awareness and promoting a responsible attitude towards health.
