Residents and Faculty Members of the Department of Cardiology of KazNMU Took Part in a Preventive Campaign Against Arterial Hypertension Within the framework of World
Hypertension Day, annually observed on May 17, as well as the international initiative May Measurement Month (MMM2026), the faculty members and residents of the Department of Cardiology at the Non-profit Joint Stock Company “S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University” actively participated in a social and preventive campaign held under the slogan: “Arterial Hypertension: Know It, Treat It, Control It.”
Arterial hypertension remains one of the leading risk factors for myocardial infarction, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases. According to the World Health Organization, elevated blood pressure is observed in nearly every second adult resident of Kazakhstan, highlighting the importance of early detection and preventive measures.
As part of the campaign, preventive outreach sites were organized in the Panfilov area of Talgar District, Almaty Region, including the local communities of Panfilov, Karabulak, and Zhibek Zholy.
During the event, the residents and faculty members of the department carried out:
blood pressure measurements among the population;
consultations on the prevention and control of arterial hypertension;
educational and awareness-raising activities;
distribution of informational materials and recommendations on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Participation in such initiatives contributes to the development of practical skills, strengthening of professional competencies, and fostering social responsibility among future healthcare specialists
