Results of A.Komori’s visit (Nagasaki Medical Center, Japan) to Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University
From November 17 to November 24, 2017 Atsumasa Komori MD, PhD (Center for Clinical Research, NHO Nagasaki Medical Center, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Nagasaki University, Japan) was a visiting professor in KazNMU. A. Komori is a recognized as an expert in the field of diagnosis and treatment of patients with autoimmune liver diseases, chronic viral hepatitis and other chronic diffuse liver diseases. A. Komori is a member of the Japanese Society of Hepatology, the Asia-Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL).
A.Komori was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of KazNMU in 2015, he is the curator of the Hepatology Center KazNMU providing methodological and advisory assistance in organizing medical care for patients with liver disease, conducting research and training at the Nagasaki Medical Center.
According to the program of A.Komori’s visit, activities were carried out in education, clinical and scientific fields.
At the International Conference «Diabetes Mellitus in the Republic of Kazakhstan — organization of specialized medical care» Komori spoke about problematic lecture “Why and for what reasons should we hepatologists collaborate with diabetologists?”.
At the the 1st clinical hospital A. Komori conducted the seminar «Cholestatic liver disease: recent progress in the diagnosis and management of patients». On seminar attended doctors from the clinical base, teachers of clinical departments, 4th year students of the specialty «General Medicine” and MMF. Participants of the seminar discussed the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cholestatic liver diseases based on the use of modern diagnostic and treatment methods.
A.Komori held an interactive seminar for interns «Prevention and Early Detection of Hepatocellular Carcinoma».
The staff of the clinic discussed with A. Komori interdisciplinary scientific project «Development of scientifically based approaches to the diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus». Prof. A. Komori expressed interest in conducting joint scientific research on the prevalence and specific features of the clinical course of autoimmune liver diseases in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The staff of the Center for Hepatology, the teachers of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 with the course of hepatology, the doctors of the Department of Gastroenterology of the City Clinical Hospital 1 discussed with A. Komori the questions of conducting diagnostically obscure patients, a total of 11 patients with liver diseases in the SAB and 4 patients in 1 CGD were consulted.
Perspectives of cooperation between KazNMU and the Nagasaki Medical Center in the field of joint research, clinical activities and medical education were discussed during the meeting of A.Komori with the rector of KazNMU prof. T.S. Nurgozhyn.
