When a Loved One Changes Before Your Eyes: A Lecture for Families of Patients with Dementia
Dear colleagues,
Due to increasing life expectancy and the growing number of older adults in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the prevalence of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease continues to rise steadily. According to Global Burden of Disease data and Alzheimer’s Disease International, more than 57 million people worldwide are currently living with dementia, and this number is expected to reach 152 million by 2050.
According to Alzheimer’s Disease International, more than 100,000 people in Kazakhstan are currently living with dementia, with projections exceeding 350,000 cases by 2050.
In this context, the Department of Nervous Diseases of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, the Kazakhstan Alzheimer’s and Dementia Alliance (KADA), and the Association of Neurologists of Kazakhstan are organizing a round table for relatives and caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

The event aims to improve awareness among family members and caregivers regarding dementia diagnosis, patient care, prevention of complications, patient navigation within the healthcare system, and psychological support for families affected by dementia.
The program will include:
- Early signs and diagnosis of dementia
- Modern approaches to care and patient support
- Prevention of complications and caregiver burnout
- Questions and answers with specialists
Family members, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and all interested participants are welcome.
